Top Ten Books That Broke Your Heart A Little

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's post is the Top Ten Books That Broke Your Heart A Little.

Alright, this one's difficult.  We all know I'm not a sappy romantic (even though I like a little bit of romance).  And I don't want to give away the book's plot by listing what I'm going to list.  Therefore, I'm not going to go into detail on my books.  Also note that a lot of my picks aren't full romance (refer to above explanation as to why I can't come up with 100% romantic novels for this list).

1.  At First Sight by Nicolas Sparks
Pretty much any book by Nicholas Sparks could fall into this list.  But I picked this one because it is one of the few books out that there that references the syndrome I have.  Wondering what syndrome that is?  Go read the book to find out.
2.  Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare
Infernal Devices Series, Book 2
My lips are very tightly sealed as to why this broke my heart.  But honestly, almost any sort of book 2 ending that this book could have had would have broken my heart.
3.  The Devil's Arithmetic by Jane Yolen
This is World War II book that I highly recommend you read.  I loved this book, as sad as it was!
4.  The Forest of Hands of Teeth by Carrie Ryan
A zombie book that broke my heart?  With my personality, of course!
5.  If I Should Die Before I Wake by Han Nolen
Another World War II book that broke my heart.  It's a great book!
6.  Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
Hunger Games Series, Book 3
Again, my lips are sealed.  But there were so many parts to this book that broke my heart.  At the end, I had was all, "Woah!!!" and deep breaths...
7.  My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
Another book that makes you cry your eyes out.  But it's a great book with a wicked secret.
8.  My Soul to Keep by Rachel Vincent
Soul Screamers Series, Book 3
Yes, this one broke my heart.  This is the last one in the series that I read.  And after this ending, I'm afraid to read the next one.
9.  A Need So Beautiful by Suzanne Young
The whole storyline of this book breaks my heart.  I really can't wait for the next one to come out.
10.  Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead
Vampire Academy Series, Book 5
Honestly, the last three books in this series broke my heart.  But they were so awesome!

  1. It's difficult to post titles on this list without giving a little away, I think. I hate to read sad books, but I also think they are more real than books with happy endings.
