Top Ten Authors I'd Love To Have At My Thanksgiving Feast

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's post is the Top Ten Authors I'd Love To Have At My Thanksgiving Feast.

Well that's a hard one...  I'm more of a book person than I am a people person.  And if I were to invite authors to my Thanksgiving dinner, I'd probably be that kind of fan who can't stop talking about how awesome their books were.  And that might be a little awkward for the authors.  (I apologize about the horrible formatting, the multiple images were difficult to correctly add to the blog.)

1.  Jane Austen
Who wouldn't invite Jane Austen to their Thanksgiving dinner (assuming she was still alive)?  She wrote some of the best romances of all times.  Unfortunately, I still haven't read any of her books yet.

2.  Ralph Waldo Emerson
Again, we have that dead issue.  But it's my party, and I can pretend.  Ralph would be a very interesting person to have at the table due to all of his transcendentalism writing.  I truly enjoyed reading his works in high school.

3.  William Shakespeare
So what if my dinner involves a few literary zombies (I hope they don't stink too bad).  I'd have to bring a tape recorder just in case Will talks in the same dialect that his works are written in.  They're so beautiful to read, but you sometimes need a lot of brain power to process it.

4.  Richelle Mead
I'd definitely have to invite my favorite author to this meal.  I absolutely love her books.  Vampire Academy series, Dark Swan series?  Awesome...

5.  Charlaine Harris
I absolutely loved reading the Sookie Stackhouse series.  Who wouldn't want to talk about vampires while eating some turkey?

6.  Kelley Armstrong
I'm really getting into this paranormal Thanksgiving.  Werewolves, witches, vampires, demons, and necromancers?  Oh man, I loved the Otherworld series.

7.  Jeri Smith-Ready
She's an up and coming author.  An adult vampire series and a young adult paranormal series that I absolutely love.  Who doesn't enjoy reading about the occasional ghost?

8.  Cassandra Clare
Ooh, I absolutely love the Mortal Instruments and the Infernal Devices books.  I think all of the authors at my Thanksgiving dinner would be uncomfortable because I'd probably never stop talking about how much I love their books (I guess I'm a little one-dimensional at the dinner table).

9.  Suzanne Collins
What with the upcoming movie, having Suzanne enjoying Thanksgiving at my table would be awesome.  I loved the books and am eagerly anticipating the movie.

10.  Tamora Pierce
My favorite books in middle school were by Tamora Pierce.  I absolutely loved the Circle of Magic series.  Her books inspired to keep reading when I was a kid.

  1. Love, love your list! And how you have the author picture on one side & the book on the other. Great idea :-)

  3. Terrific list! Oh man, if Cassie Clare came to my house for Thanksgiving, I think my appetite would only be for juicy details about Jace!

    My TTT!

    Happy (early) Thanksgiving!

  4. Jane Austen and William Shakespeare would definitely be good dinner guests, in my opinion. I'd love to talk to them about their works.

And yes, I love Tamora Pierce too! She's one of the authors who inspires me to write.
